Quick Start
Welcome to RingCentral for NetSuite Pro — your team's browser-based phone, SMS, and contacts hub, with every call automatically logged into NetSuite.
This guide takes a brand-new user from invite email to first call in about five minutes.
Prerequisites
- A laptop or desktop on Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. (Safari and mobile browsers have limited support.)
- A working microphone.
- The invite link your admin sent you.
- Your RingCentral credentials (your admin or IT will provide these).
1. Accept your invite
- Open the invite link from your admin. It looks like
https://phone.proteloinc.com/login?token=…. - You land on the login page. Your email is pre-filled and locked, and a chip shows the company and role you've been invited as (Member or Admin).
- Pick a strong password and click Create account. You're logged in immediately — no email confirmation step.
Invite expired?
Invite links are valid for 7 days. If you see "This invite has expired," ask your admin to send you a fresh link.
2. Connect your RingCentral account
RingCentral for NetSuite Pro uses RingCentral for calls and SMS. You connect once.
- On the home page (or in Settings → Integrations), look for the Connect RingCentral banner or button.
- Click it. A RingCentral sign-in window opens.
- Enter your RingCentral email and password, then approve the access prompt.
- The window closes and the RingCentral status chip turns green — Connected.
Full walkthrough: Connecting RingCentral.
3. Turn on notifications & pick a ringtone
So you don't miss calls when RingCentral for NetSuite Pro is in a background tab.
- A banner at the top of the app says Turn on browser notifications. Click Enable, then click Allow in your browser's prompt.
- Open Settings → Notifications and confirm:
- Permission chip shows ✅ Granted
- Incoming call notifications toggle is on
- Ringtone sound toggle is on
- Pick a ringtone from the dropdown and click Send test notification to confirm everything fires.
Detail: Notifications.
4. Make tel: links open in RingCentral for NetSuite Pro
So clicking a phone number anywhere (NetSuite, Gmail, a webpage) dials in RingCentral for NetSuite Pro instead of asking which app to use.
- Open Settings → Phone Links.
- Click Use RingCentral for NetSuite Pro for phone links, then Allow in the browser prompt.
- Follow the per-browser steps shown on the card to set RingCentral for NetSuite Pro as your default
tel:handler.
When the badge turns green (Active), you're done. Detail: Phone Links.
5. Install RingCentral for NetSuite Pro as an app (optional but recommended)
Running RingCentral for NetSuite Pro as a standalone app keeps your phone window separate from your browser tabs and avoids accidental closing.
- Open Settings and scroll to the Install App card.
- Click Install. Your browser shows a confirmation prompt — accept it.
- RingCentral for NetSuite Pro now lives in your Start menu / Applications folder. Pin it to your taskbar or dock.
Detail: Installing the App.
6. Make your first call
- Open the Phone tab.
- Type a number or contact name in the dial field. As you type a name, matching contacts from your personal list and the NetSuite directory appear — click one to fill the number.
- Click the green phone button.
- The active call view opens. Try the Mute, Hold, and Notes controls. Anything you type in the Notes field is auto-saved into the NetSuite call record when the call ends.
- Hang up — the call appears in Recent Calls within a few seconds.
Detail: Making a Call.
7. Ensure NetSuite phone numbers open RingCentral for NetSuite Pro
NetSuite can dial through RingCentral for NetSuite Pro when you click a phone number on a record. This is separate from the browser tel: handler in step 4 — it uses NetSuite's CTI telephony setting.
Per user, per role
Each person must complete this setup for every NetSuite role they use. If you switch roles, check Set Preferences → Telephony again.
- Log in to NetSuite.
- Go to Home → Set Preferences.
- Open the Telephony tab.
- Under Telephony Option, choose CTI.
- For CTI URL, paste:
https://phone.proteloinc.com/?tel={phone}- Do not replace
{phone}— NetSuite substitutes the number when you click to dial.
- Do not replace
- Save your preferences.
Clicking a phone number in NetSuite opens RingCentral for NetSuite Pro and starts the call. If you also completed step 4, tel: links elsewhere in the browser use the same app.
You're set
Day-to-day, RingCentral for NetSuite Pro runs in a single tab (or installed window). When a call comes in, you'll hear your ringtone and see a banner — click Answer and start talking.

Got stuck?
If something doesn't work, the most common causes are:
- No microphone permission — browser blocked your mic. See Microphone Troubleshooting.
- RingCentral not connected — the green chip in Settings → Integrations isn't lit.
- Multiple tabs open — only one tab can ring. See Multiple Tabs.
