Microphone Troubleshooting
RingCentral for NetSuite Pro uses your computer's microphone for calls. If your microphone is unavailable, RingCentral for NetSuite Pro shows a Media Capability banner with the exact issue and a fix.
The banner blocks call initialization — you cannot dial out while your mic is unusable — but inbound call banners still appear so you can see who's calling.
Banner states
| State | Meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No microphone detected | No mic is connected to your machine. | Plug in a headset or external mic. RingCentral for NetSuite Pro re-checks automatically when devices change. |
| Microphone permission blocked | Your browser is blocking RingCentral for NetSuite Pro from accessing the mic. | See re-enable mic permission below. |
| Microphone in use | Another app (Zoom, Teams, Discord) is exclusively using your mic. | Close the other app, then click Re-check. |
| Browser doesn't support WebRTC | Your browser can't run RingCentral for NetSuite Pro calls. | Switch to Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on desktop. Safari and mobile browsers are limited. |
| Checking… | Initial probe in progress. | Wait a moment. |
The banner can be expanded for full instructions per state — click the expand arrow on the right.

Still stuck?
If the banner says "Microphone in use" but you're sure no other app is using it:
- Close all browser tabs that might use the mic (Meet, Webex, Teams in browser).
- Quit native apps that ever request mic access (Zoom, Slack huddles, Discord).
- Click Re-check.
On Windows, you can also check Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone to ensure microphone access is enabled for your browser at the OS level.
